Rationalisation of Planning Laws and Regulations
Aligning national planning legislation with SPLUMA.
About this project
With the introduction of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act (Act 16 of 2023) (SPLUMA), numerous pieces of legislation governing or influencing spatial planning, land development, and land use management become obsolete or incompatible with SPLUMA. The project identified inconsistencies between the SPLUMA and each of these laws, including areas of conflict and duplication, and then investigated and evaluated their compatibility with the SPLUMA. Finally, the project proposed ways to resolve inconsistencies and indicated the necessity for and justification for any potential legislative modifications.
